I was going to ask about the image on this post, and saw the MidJourney credit, and had a moment of snobbery, and then got over it. What's your experience using this tool?
Haha, I know the feeling, but it's been brilliant and a lot of fun. As someone with zero artistic talent with a pencil, the process of tweaking and crafting prompts to give images that you have in your mind is really quite fascinating. I've paid for a few months for a subscription, but ultimately I would like to commission some real artists to make a few pieces. Midjourney has just helped give some quick images for me that I otherwise would have likely never been able to find. I'm still aware of the ethical issues and how fast things are changing, but given I'm not monetising anything on here then I'm currently OK with it.
I really like your profile pic by the way. Did you make that yourself?
No, I bought that from a talented young artist named Hannah Hieber, who lives here in Greensboro. She had a Substack for a while, but I can't find it now.
Love 'Brae's meteorite' and heading now to read part iv. ☺️
This was a great summary, Nathan! I’ve bookmarked the beginning of Brae’s Meteorite, and a few other things. Looking forward to delving into them!
Aw, thanks my friend! Lovely to have you here.
The crisp and underrated em dash-- now I have to subscribe! :)
Hehe, the best kind of dash 😄
Thanks for joining, Ann! Lovely to have you here.

Hey Nathan, want to recommend each other's publications? :) https://niccolohilgendorf.substack.com/
Hi Niccolò, happy to recommend once we have some back-and-forth engagement going across our respective Substack pages.
