Hello. Welcome. Thank you.
All those things. You’re wonderful.
Heading to a new Substack can be a perilous experience. There are panels and posts, a seemingly disordered array of images, often far too many category banners.
Which do you click? Where do you go?
My hope is that if you’re new then this post alleviates some of that and guides you into SLAKE.
Crafting my dreams into short, weird stories
I’ve always dreamt a lot. Weird, wild dreams, vivid and mysterious. It’s only recently that I thought I’d try to see if I could write short stories about my dreams. They all live over in this section, but here’s a short one to begin with:
The Sernox, a short serialisation
I began The Sernox with no real idea what it was, other than I wanted to capture the essence of myth, folklore, love and loss. I’m still not sure I quite know what it became, but it’s a story spread across seven short posts, the first one being here:
Brae’s meteorite, a novella
Join Renn as he recounts his strange and heartfelt journey with Brae. Discover everything that happened after they witnessed a meteorite fall from the sky.
This is me attempting to serialise a novella that’s been simmering away for a little while in my mind. Each entry is pulled from Renn’s own diary. You can find everything over here in this section, but it’s probably best to simply start at the start:
Precipice, fragments of a SciFi story
And this is me writing notes and fragments of a larger SciFi story called Precipice, about the interconnected lives and stories of characters that span two different cities. Everything can be found over in this section, but this serves as an optimal entry point:
A few other notable things
If you’re still here with me, then there are a few other pieces that perhaps are of interest:
A more personal piece on my half-life as a close-up magician:
My temporary (though still ongoing as I write this) quitting of coffee, along with some other thoughts:
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you found this little summary useful. If you’d like to subscribe, then I’ve placed far too many subscribe buttons throughout the post.
If you’re already subscribed and you’re reading this, then you’re also awesome and I hope perhaps you see something here you didn’t see before.
Finally, it helps me tremendously if you leave a Like on this post (and even a comment, if you so desire).
Love 'Brae's meteorite' and heading now to read part iv. ☺️
This was a great summary, Nathan! I’ve bookmarked the beginning of Brae’s Meteorite, and a few other things. Looking forward to delving into them!
