If we ever meet, remind me not to accept a lift from you. 😂
I had a similar sort of moment around ten years ago, when I reached the age my dad got to just before he died. I don't mean similar in content, more in terms of a feeling. Strange. But I have to say, your experience has been beautifully written.
The older you become, the more of those ‘moments’ you will recall. It’s like getting off the bus at the first stop..and watching the bus carry on without you.
I very much enjoyed reading your recollections of a vivid, crystallised memory.
The beginnings of which will make a huge diamond of memories!
I really enjoyed this, and I'm glad you suggested it to me. I've had moments similar to this, especially that feeling of wanting time to stay still. And asking yourself how time rushed forward so damn quickly. It reminds me of the Talking Heads song. Remember it?
Great track and such a good video, too! I remember that on the cable TV equivalent back in the UK in the late 90s we used to have this channel called VH1 and they did these segments where they'd play music videos from the 80s and early 90s, with bits of trivia about the track or the video itself. That was one of the songs that used to be played a lot. More good memories!
Counterclockwise? Madness! Did you not watch Clockwise (John Cleese)? Right. Well, you made it through unscathed. Seemingly. The memories we keep... time is the fire in which we burn (my preferred quote from Delmore Schwartz). I somehow missed this post. So, going back in time sometimes pays off.
Different things create that division between chapters of our lives. It’s always fascinating looking back and seeing where things changed and restarted. I’m in a terrific chapter now. Wouldn’t change it for the world. 😃🤗

Thank you, Terry. That means a lot.
I suppose we all may experience some form of this feeling at some stage.

I'm becoming ever more aware of it.
Love your analogy.
Thank you kindly 🙂
yep, yep, yep-I think you may have stumbled onto the mystery of time reversal! I'm leaving for the roundabout now. . .a great read!
Hahaha, hope it goes well. Let me know ;)

I sometimes wonder if reversing time would help or would I make all those mistakes all over again? A wonder of an anecdote on turning forty.

That's a great quote! Thanks for slipping into the time machine of the archive!
My pleasure.

Thanks for a cool article.
That's so great to hear, Beth!
